It’s dark under the cover of trees that shade our coffee. The sun has to work hard to penetrate the mist that blankets the mountains. Our coffee grows at an elevation of 3,000 feet and high altitude makes for dense coffee beans which mature slowly, creating intense flavor.
This is a dark, medium bodied roast with a spicy, complex taste and a hint of chocolate overtones. This coffee makes a wonderful brewed drink or an espresso to compliment both dinner and dessert.

Our farm is home to many unique natural phenomenon: spiky-haired monkeys, fruits that grow on tree trunks, Urucu honey bees that do not sting, and, rarest of all, the peaberry.
When two seeds fuse together within a coffee fruit, a peaberry is born. The peaberry is known for its intense flavor and even roasting. Café Sombra’s Peaberry has a bold taste, with a creamy body and deep blackberry over tones. Like a fine liqueur, it has winy aroma and a smooth finish.
